search engine optimization tips 2008
How do you calculate projected internet sale percentage for mid-sized company?

I’ve been asked to come up with growth goals for internet sales for my mid-sized company – specifically, what percentage of sales should come from the internet in 2008, 2009 and 2010 given where we are now, based on what % of sales of other companies similar to us come from the internet. We have three major brands that we manufacture, distribute, and customize, but currently almost 90% of our sales are phone/catalog/contract based, only 10% or less coming from our three very amateur e-commerce sites. We are about to completely re-vamp all our sites to modern, easy-to navigate/checkout e-commerce sites with search engine optimization. (Which is where I come in, I’m a staff artist redesigning the sites…don’t ask me why I’m responsible for figuring out this profit percentage stuff!) Anyone have any tips on where I should begin, what I should look at, or what’s a good % to realistically aim for? Any help would be appreciated!

try this tool:

Google’s traffic estimator
a) plug-in the keywords for your business /someone with experience in adwords, ppc, generic words, and long tail keywords would be a definite asset for this exercise/
b) chose in the tool your target markets
c) play with economic, average and generous daily budget for PPC ads
d) see what is the expected number of clicks/visits
e) if your websites get tuned-up to sale, you have the chance to turn between 1% and 5% of all visitors into buyers.

Assume that in year one, the ratio visitors/sales will be closer to 1% and by the end of the second year it can go closer to5%… make the calculatios. Done.
Hope it helps
